Facebook has enjoyed tremendous success of the second quarter of this year. Facebook has introduced a lot of new features in the network. The users of Facebook have been converted into HTTPS; or in other words, safe browsing. Facebook is going to introduce the feature of embedded posts. The social media network is also expected to add video ads in the news feeds as well.
Safe Browsing
Facebook provided its users with an option of browsing safely by enabling the HTTP browsing for all of its users. This option is a very safe one for those users who usually visit the social media network via Wi-Fi at coffee shops, schools and airports.
The conversion of all the users of Facebook to HTTPS was not at all an easy work. The project took a lot of time to complete. It enabled the users to access their Facebook account from wherever they want. Now, the users are going to observe a lock icon along with “https” instead of “http” in the website address of their mobile devices. This actually means that you are browsing the Facebook with a totally safe connection. The conversion of users in HTTPS reduced the risk which is posed to the account holders on Facebook.
The changes in the infrastructure reduced several other issues which were faced by the users. Now, the pages do not take a lot of time to load and the performance has been improved to a great extent.
Embedded Posts
With the help of this feature, the users are able to add public posts into their websites and blog posts. The embedded posts can comprise of hashtags, videos, pictures and other content. This is another encouraging move of Facebook. This feature let the users enable their capability of search and they are able to discover the posts and topics for their website and blog posts.
The feature of embedded posts is being used by all the users. When the feature is enabled, you would be able to click on the link which is present within the feed. The link is going to appear in the menu of your timeline. However, the users would only be allowed to embed the posts which are public.
Video Ads
Facebook is planning to sell the TV style ads. These ads are going to appear along the side of the posts of your friends in the news feed. The ads are going to last for around 15 seconds and they would be shown three times in a day in your news feed. The ads are only going to cost the companies around $2.5 million in a day on the basis of their options of targeting.
It is not confirmed if the ads are going to be shown on full screen or they are going to be displayed in line. Their position is also not confirmed.
The changes are definitely going to change the Facebook news feed.
